1 Depart UK  
2 Arrive at Noi Bai airport, transfer to the hotel. Explore this thousand-year-old capital city through colonial houses, religious buildings, tree-line boulevards and peaceful lakes. Overnight stay in Hanoi. B
3 Today we enjoy a full day city tour including visits to the mausoleum of the nation's founder Ho Chi Minh, the Presidential Palace, Ho Chi Minh's house on stilts, the One Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature, the Museum of Ethnology, the beautiful West Lake, the Tran Vu Pagoda, and the peaceful lake of the Restored Sword. Late afternoon we take a cyclo tour for a short excursion through the bustling old quarter where the streets are named after the specific goods once sold there. In the evening, we enjoy a fantastic traditional water puppet show. Overnight stay in Hanoi B
4 Overland to Ha Long Bay (165 km), the most wonderful scenic sight of Vietnam, a World Natural Heritage Site with over 3000 limestone islands and islets rising fantastically from the clear emerald water. Board a traditional-style wooden junk to travel around this magnificent landscape visiting its amazing grottoes and caves. There will be opportunities to swim from the boat in the clear blue water of the East Sea, and enjoy an excellent fresh seafood diner later. Overnight on board. B/L/D
5 Continue our cruise visiting Dinh Huong island, Ga Choi island, Dog island, Sail island, and the cave of Surprise, one of the biggest and the most beautiful caves in Ha Long. In the afternoon we return to Ha Noi, stopping en route at Dong Trieu ceramic village. Upon arrival in Hanoi, we transfer to the Hanoi Railway Station for the overnight train to Lao Cai. 6 Arrive in Lao Cai in the early morning, and enjoy the scenic drive to the hill station of Sa Pa. On arrival, enjoy a morning walking tour visiting the unique Sa Pa Market where ethnic people living in different mountain and valleys have gathered to trade their goods. These people still wear colourful pattered traditional dresses. Then get off the beaten track, and trek into a mountainous region to visit the Ta Fin ethnic village. Along the way we pass several rustic villages. The blend of the verdant mountain backdrop with its colourful population makes for an unimaginable view. If it's on Saturday night, we attend the Love Fair which was where the local people gathered to find a prospective husband or wife. Overnight stay in Sa Pa. B
7 Walk through the village and experience the daily life of Tay people. Cross a suspension bridge and walk through the rice fields and climb uphill until we reach the village of Nam Toong where the Red Dzao people live. We start descending and pass the river before trekking uphill to Nam Kheng, where we enjoy the spectacular view towards the valley and the Xa Pho village. Back to Sapa for the transfer back to Lao Cai Railway Station for the overnight train back to Hanoi. Overnight on the train. B
8 Early morning pick-up at Hanoi Railway Station. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Hue, Vietnam's last feudal capital where the Nguyen Dynasty once ruled (1802 - 1945). This small and quiet city is well-known for its magnificent architecture, pagodas and royal tombs laid out in small villages and surrounding hills. Upon arrival, we take a boat trip on the romantic Perfume River visiting Hue's oldest and most revered site, the Thien Mu Pagoda, and the elaborate Mausoleum of Emperor Minh Mang. In the afternoon we visit the mausoleums of Emperors Tu Duc and Khai Dinh, the Imperial Citadel, the Purple Forbidden City and the Dong Ba Market. Overnight stay in Hue B
9 Drive south to Hoi An town, a World Heritage Site, which is famous for its ancient mix of Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese styles of architecture from the 16th century, with low, tiled-roof houses and narrow streets. Next we visit Da Nang's Cham Museum which contains the finest collection of Cham sculpture in the world. We take time to walk around the town visiting the 200 year-old Tan Ky house, the Phuc Kien Pagoda, the Assembly Hall, the former merchants' houses, the 400 year-old Japanese Covered Bridge and the colourful riverside market. Late afternoon is free to cycle through rice paddies to the nearby beach, shop for souvenirs among the antique shops and art galleries or just sit at roadside cafes and soak up the atmosphere of this quaint town. 10 Excursion to My Son Holy land (50 km), once the spiritual capital of the Champa Kingdom that dominated South East Asia for nearly a thousand years and occupied most of the central parts of Vietnam from the 2nd to the 16th century. The area has remarkable red brick towers and sanctuaries dating from between the 7th and 13th centuries. Transfer back to Da Nang airport for a short flight to Nha Trang, a beautifully coastal city. The remainder of the day is free for relaxing on the beach. Overnight stay in Nha Trang B
11 With its fabulous sunny weather, turquoise waters, a string of islands and white sandy beaches which stretch the whole length of the city make Nha Trang one of Vietnam's premier beach resorts. Take a boat trip around the coastal islands visiting the Tri Nguyen aquarium, a local fishing village to observe the local people .Today we also have lots of time to enjoy swimming and snorkelling or lazing on a beach. We arrive back in town late afternoon and visit the Long Son Pagoda with its enormous white Buddha statue, and the impressive Ponagar Cham Towers, a secret Hindu site dating back to the 2nd century AD. Overnight stay in NhaTrang. B
12 Leave Nha Trang for Da Lat, the 'City of Eternal Spring', stopping en route to visit the famous PoKlong Jarai Cham Towers. The charming town of Da Lat is set around a lake and surrounded by evergreen forests, gardens, meadows, lakes, waterfalls and rolling countryside. On arrival in Da Lat we visit the Love Valley, the Xuan Huong Lake, the Lake of Sighs and the Flower Garden. Overnight stay in Da Lat. B
13 Morning visit the summer residence of Vietnam's last Emperor Bao Dai, the Lam Ty Ni Pagoda, Hang Nga Guesthouse and Truc Lam Thien Vien Pagoda. In the afternoon we make our way down hill to Ho Chi Minh City through many tea and coffee plantations around Bao Loc and past a floating village at La Nga Lake. Arrive late in Ho Chi Minh City. This bustling metropolis, contradiction of its northern counterpart, is crowded with bikes and motorbikes, numerous shopping area and sidewalk cafes. Overnight stay in Ho Chi Minh City. B
14 Today we spend a half day seeing the sights of the city such as the Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Old Sai Gon Post Office, and the Jade Emperor Pagoda. In the afternoon we travel through the rolling countryside to Vinh Long, the heart of the Mekong Delta (125km). Upon arrival, we take a ride on a bicycle around the village to see the local daily activities, visit a bonsai garden, a fruit garden, a boat building workshop, and a coconut candy and girdle cake shop. Tonight we have dinner with the host where we stay overnight, and enjoy the Mekong Delta's traditional music and songs performed by villagers or even maybe our hostess. 15 We take a boat trip for an exciting excursion around the tributaries of the mighty Mekong River to Cai Be floating market. Visit fruit orchards, and enjoy the diverse types of tropical fruits and a local delicacy the Elephant's Ear fish. Then proceed to Can Tho, the biggest city of the Mekong Delta. We cruise on a small boat to Cai Rang Floating market, the busiest and biggest floating market of the Mekong River with sellers and buyers bargaining and exchanging goods from their colourful boats. Wander along the villages to visit a rice husking mill, and a rice paper and rice noodle making workshop. Then we drive back to Ho Chi Minh City. Overnight stay in Ho Chi Minh City. B
16 Free at leisure until your transfer to Tan Son Nhat airport for your departure flight. B
