Discover a tapestry of scenic contrasts in 'the land between' commonly known as the New Territories - and the hinterland, which lies between the Kowloon Hills and the boundary of the Special Administrative Region. Here rolling green hills, peaceful woodland and rural markets exist side-by-side, with satellite new towns and modern industry, creating a unique area, which stands as both a gentle reminder of Hong Kong's past as well as of its hopes and plans for the future.
You'll explore one of Hong Kong's most impressive monasteries, the 'Yuen Yuen Institute' a religious complex that demonstrates the significance of Confucian, Taoist, and Buddhist contributions to the society.
Ride past banana plantations and stop at the lookout point of Tai Mo Shan, Hong Kong's tallest mountain, for a panoramic view of Hong Kong Island to the south, and 'the land between' ahead to the north. Driving downhill, a stop will be made at the old Fanling Walled Village belonging to a big family clan in the New Territories, then on to the peaceful bird sanctuary at Luk Keng and its nearby village.
The tour takes you through the lush green Plover Cove Country Park to 'Sam Mun Tsai' fish farming zone where fish are bred in submerged cages. The Tour concludes with a Chinese lunch served at a popular restaurant.
