Home Stays in China
We feel this is another great way to experience the real China. We have carefully selected these two locations. You can home stay in Sichuan province with the Zhang family who live in Hui Long village just out side Chengdu. The other location is the Yang family who live in Yihetun Village situated in the country side 30 minutes from Yongji city in Shanxi province relatively close to Xian in neighbouring Shaanxi province.
In Sichuan the home stay location is Jun's (Jun who started Sanya Travel in 2006) sister's family and in Shanxi the home stay is run by is one of our former guides from Hainan Island Feng, (who likes to be called Jim !). Jim has moved back from Sanya to be with his family and now is the local school teacher.
Its normal to stay just one or two nights at these locations. You will be shown typical daily life by both your Guide as you arrive and the family you are staying with. Please note all the facilities you would expect in a basic hotel room are ready for you. You will be well looked after in comfortable surroundings. However this is not luxury 4/5 star accommodation, if it was luxury you would not experience this aspect of the real China.
These home stays are very flexible but a typical scenario would be to arrive late afternoon or early evening with your English speaking Guide, meet the family and enjoy an evening meal. The following day you will shown round the surrounding area. We would prefer you not to be rushing around and want you to experience the home cooking and hospitality. The Children in these villages are very keen to practice there English on you !
