Ancient & Modern Tour
Tour from £1,234.00 per person
The combined population of the three cities encompassed within this itinerary is a staggering 26 million. Although you will cover thousands of miles during this exhilarating programme, we have allowed many opportunities for you to take in the surroundings, at your own chosen pace. Your tour will begin in the city of Beijing, formally Peking, the capital of the Peoples Republic of China. Behind this huge metropolis there are sights, including the Great Wall of China, that place Beijing as one of the most invigorating tourist destinations in the world. Your visit to Beijing will include visits to Tian'anmen Square, the Forbidden City, the 13 Ming Tombs and the Summer Palace, as well as the opportunity to experience the famous Peking Duck Dinner.
From Beijing you will travel to Xi'an, which has a separate and unique ambience. Its heritage is uniquely preserved and the Terra-cotta Warriors are arguably the most breathtaking sight in China today.
From Xi'an you will travel to Shanghai. The city is evolving with a pace unmatched by any other Chinese city. We have a full programme in Shanghai which includes excursions to the Bund, often described as "the single most evocative symbol of Shanghai". The city is often referred to as "the Paris of the East" and its combination of modern city life along with the timeless images found in Yuyuan Gardens, will ensure you experience a balanced view of China's second city.
