A fascinating journey deep into Shangri-La including a two day trek in Tiger Leaping Gorge.
Shangri-La stretches across Sichuan, Yunnan and Tibet and lies on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. The area is well known for picturesque scenery and a diverse cultural mix. It has been home to many ethnic communities for thousands of years, all of which have their own colourful and unique customs.
Starting in the vibrant and cosmopolitan city of Shanghai you have the opportunity of sampling a city in constant transition. A city with a fascinating history and an exciting future.
You enter Shangri-La from the south through Yunnan Province. Starting in Kunming travel by air and road to the heart of Shangri-La, Zhongdian. The journey includes a stopover in the ancient city of Lijiang. Then two days trekking in Tiger Leaping Gorge will take you deep into remote parts of this wonderful area. Back to Zhongdian to visit Bitahai Lake and Songzanlin Monastery and enjoy this incredible town at your leisure.

Day 1
Fly to Shanghai.
Day 2
Arrive Shanghai. Rest of the day at leisure.
Day 3
Full day tour including Yuyaun Garden, Jade Buddha Temple, Shanghai Museum and the Bund. Shanghai Acrobatics performance in the evening.
Day 4
Fly to Kunming. City tour visiting Western Hill, then on to the Bird and Flower Market.
Day 5
Fly to Lijiang. Rest of the day at leisure.
Day 6
Full day tour including Baisha Frescoes, Black Dragon Pond Park and Lijiang Old Town.
Day 7
Drive to Tiger Leaping Gorge. Trek from Qiaotou to Hetaoyuan.
Day 8
Trek to Daju and drive to Zhongdian.
Day 9
Half day tour to Songzanlin Monastery. Rest of the day at leisure.
Day 10
Half day tour to Bitahai Lake. Rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 11
Fly to Kunming with a connecting flight to Shanghai. Rest of the day at leisure.
Day 12
Return flight.
