There are two main routes to take you to China on this popular journey departing from Moscow (or London). The Trans-Manchurian line Direct to Harbin, China (famous for its Ice Festival) or the Trans-Mongolian line via Ulan Bator in Mongolia.

Tour 1: Moscow - Beijing via Mongolia

his Trans-Mongolian train currently leaves Moscow for Beijing every Tuesday night. The 7,621 km (4,735 mile) journey takes 6 days. This train crosses Siberia, cuts across Mongolia and the Gobi desert, and then enters China.

This train has deluxe 2-berth compartments (with shared shower), 1st class 4-berth compartments & 2nd class 4-berth compartments. This is by far the most scenic flexible Trans Siberian route to China. If you want to stop off on the way visiting locations in Russia there’s a second weekly train from Moscow to Ulan Bator, or there are daily trains from Moscow to Irkutsk and a daily train from Irkutsk to Ulan Bator.

There are 2 or 3 trains a week from Ulan Bator in Mongolia to Beijing.

Tour 2: Moscow - Beijing via Harbin (Old Manchuria)

The weekly Trans-Manchurian train leaves Moscow on Friday nights for Beijing via Harbin (China), Old Manchuria. It takes just over six days to cover the 8,986km (5,623 miles).

We can arrange 2-berth 1st class compartments or 4-berth 2nd class compartments. Harbin is world famous for its Ice festival.

Getting to Moscow

We can offer you many options with respect to Flying to Moscow to pick up the Trans-Siberian Railway.

These flight alternatives are now enhanced as we have been awarded an Appointed Operator for British Airways status so we should be able to get you a very good deal on flights. You can of course take the train from London St Pancras to Moscow via Cologne (Germany) but this will add three days to your journey.
