The tradition of garden construction has long been part of Chinese culture. As well as being beautiful these gardens reflect how deeply the concept of ’Yin and Yang’ was held within Chinese society. Many of their Taoist creators used the gardens to create a heaven on earth. These gardens have not been updated but merely maintained for centuries allowing you a slice of authentic Chinese heritage in these tranquil settings.
You will visit the famous Classical Gardens of Suzhou, famed for its beautiful gardens and traditional waterside architecture. Suzhou has earned its place as the Chinese people’s “paradise on earth” and they were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1997. In Beijing you visit the Botanical Garden, the Chinese Equivalent to Kew Gardens and largest of its kind in north China. Built in 1956 more than 3000 varieties of plants grow in its Peony, Rose, Medicinal Herb, Environmental Protection, Water Plants, Grass and Flower Gardens and Tree Nursery. 2,600 square metres of greenhouses display 1,000 precious plants from all over the world.
