Nagarkot
Nagarkot is 32 kilometres to the east of Kathmandu at an altitude of 2175 metres above sea level. It is one of the highest points in the Kathmandu Valley that can easily be reached by road, however expect a journey time of almost 2 hours, as you pass through small villages and hillside paddy fields.
The views once you reach the peak are excellent of the valley below, but the most spectacular sight is the sunset and sunrise over the Himalayan Mountains. On a clear day it is even possible to see Everest.
