Tour of Southern and Central Mongolia in the ancient land of Genghis Khan.
Your journey starts in Ulaanbaatar, the coldest capital in the world, where you explore all the sights of the city including the Gandan Monastery, the Genghis Monument and the Museum of Mongolian History.
The real adventure begins as you drive west towards Karakorum. This is the ancient Capital of Genghis Khan the dynamic ruler who united the nomadic tribes and founded the then extensive Mongol Empire. Visit the Erdene-Zuu Monastery where Mongolia mixes with Tibetan Buddhism.
Continue south into the Gobi region, the largest semi desert in Asia, a vast and mysterious wilderness including dinosaur remains, nomadic peoples and the chance for a camel ride. There is time to explore on foot or horseback.

Day 1
Fly to Ulaanbaatar
Day 2
Arrive Ulaanbaatar. City tour including visit to Gandan Monastery, National History Museum and Sukhbaatar Square.
Day 3
Drive to Bayan Gobi. Hike along the sand dunes and visit Hugnu Haan Mountain then on to the nearby ruins of Uvgun Hiid Temple. Ger camp.
A Ger is a Mongolian traditional dwelling which is made of felt layers over a wooden framework and are sometimes referred to as ’yurts’. Be prepared for camping with a difference!
Day 4
Drive to Karakorum. Full day exploring the Erdene-Zuu Monastery. Then meet a nomadic family. Ger Camp.
Day 5
Travel across the mountains of Ikh Bogdo to the scenic area of Saikhan Ovoo. Visit the ruined Ongiin Monasteries and perhaps see nomads that cross the area. Ger Camp.
Day 6
Drive to Middle Gobi tourist camp. Enroute see Tsogt Taij rock inscriptions and visit the Sangiin Dalai temple in Erdenedalai province. Ger Camp.
Day 7
Full day excursion to Baga Gazriin Chuluu Mountain and Sum Huh Burd. Ger Camp.
Day 8
Drive to Bogd Khan Mountain National Park with stopover at the Zorgol Hairkhan Mountain and sand dunes. Ger Camp.
Day 9
Visit to Manzshir Monastery Museum. Back to Ulaanbaatar. Tour of the Bogd Khan Winter Palace, the home of the last Khan of Mongolia and Zaisan War Memorial.
Day 10
Day trip to Terelj National Park. Explore Turtle Rock and the mountains with their unique granite formations.
Day 11
Drive to Amarbayasgalant. Ger Camp.
Day 12
Visit Amarbayasgalant Monastery dating back to 1727. Ger Camp.
Day 13
Full day trekking at the nearby mountains. Ger Camp.
Day 14
Drive back to Ulaanbaatar. Evening folk performance.
Day 15
Full day excursion in Ulaanbaatar. Visit the Museum of Natural History.
Day 16
Return flight.
