A journey through the Gobi Desert and Central Mongolia.
Your journey starts in Ulaanbaatar, the coldest capital in the world, where you explore all the sights of the city including the Gandan Monastery, the Genghis Monument and the Museum of Mongolian History.
The real adventure begins as you drive west towards Karakorum. This is the ancient Capital of Genghis Khan the dynamic ruler who united the nomadic tribes and founded the then extensive Mongol Empire. Visit the Erdene-Zuu Monastery where Mongolia mixes with Tibetan Buddhism.
Continue south into the Gobi region, the largest semi desert in Asia, a vast and mysterious wilderness including dinosaur remains, nomadic peoples and the chance for a camel ride. There is time to explore on foot or horseback.

Day 1
Fly to Ulaanbaatar
Day 2
Arrive Ulaanbaatar. City tour including the Gandan Monastery, Museum of Mongolian National History and Genghis Monument.
Day 3
Drive to the west toward Karakorum and stop in Elsen Tasarkhai. Visit the Ovgon Monastery ruins and the Khogno Khan National Park.
Day 4
Drive to Karakorum. Then visit Erdene-Zuu Monastery and see the last standing walls of Karakorum, the heart of the Mongol Empire.
Day 5
Drive south through the Gobi Steppes. Arrive and transfer to camp. Visit the Ongi monastery ruins with optional walking or horse riding. Great Gobi camp.
Day 6
Drive south to Bayanzag a dinosaur remains site and its surrounding saxaul bush forests. Bayanzag camp.
Day 7
Drive through Gobi desertscapes and see nomadic peoples, try some camel riding if you wish. Arrive at the mighty sand dunes of Khongor Els, stay overnight at a Khongor camp.
Day 8
Take a southern passage through the Gobi and drive along the dunes before branching into the Gov-Altai Mountains and the Dungenee Pass which leads to the glacial gorge of YolynAm – journey on foot or horseback into the gorge. Gobi Discovery camp.
Day 9
Drive to the north and arrive in Tsagaan Suvarga one of the wonders of the desert steppes with ancient rock paintings. Middle Gobi camp.
Day 10
Drive back to Ulaanbaatar. Enjoy a traditional folk concert and farewell dinner.
Day 11
Return flight.
