Do I need a Visa for Mongolia for a holiday or business visit?
Yes. All UK citizens planning to visit Mongolia require a visa. This has to be obtained before departure from the UK.

Any exceptions?
Yes, as follows:

• Citizens of the USA and Kazakhstan do not need a visa for a visit up to 3 months
• Citizens of Malaysia, Israel and Cuba do not need a visa for a visit up to 1 month
• Citizens of the Philippines do not need a visa for a visit up to 3 weeks
• Citizens of Singapore do not need a visa for a visit up to 2 weeks
• Citizens of the People’s Republic of China,Vietnam, Bulgaria,Thailand, Chile and Romania (who have a diplomatic or official passport) do not need a visa
• Citizens of Russia, Laos,Yugoslavia, Czech Republic, Slovakia,Mexico (who have a diplomatic or official passport) do not need a visa for a visit up to 3 months
• Citizens of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,Turkey and Republic of Korea (who have a diplomatic or official passport) do not need a visa for a visit up to 1 month
• Citizens of India need a Mongolian visa but there is no visa fee
• Citizens of Hong Kong do not need a visa for a visit up to 2 weeks (ID cards are accepted to indicate residence in Hong Kong)

The Mongolian Government issues many different types of visas from single entry, different durations to multiple-entry visa. If we are arranging your holiday or business trip, this £35 is well spent, as we will check and double check all the required paperwork prior to it going to the visa office. If we are preparing your travel itinerary and we have booked flights for you, SanyaTravel will deal with the required paperwork. Once we have filled out your application form online, we will send this to you to be signed and sent back to us. This £35 fee for each separate visa includes sending your passports back via Royal Mail Special Delivery.

Types of Mongolia Visa

• Single entry visa is issued to visitors who stay in Mongolia for more than 90 days. A supporting letter is needed from relevant company/organization and/or counterparts in Mongolia, approved by the Immigration, Naturalisation and Foreign Citizens Office of Mongolia.
• Single entry and exit visa is issued to visitors who stay in Mongolia for up to 30 days.
• Double entry and exit visa is issued to visitors travelling to Mongolia twice within 3 months from the date of its issuance. Duration of each stay in Mongolia is up to 30 days.
• Single transit visa is issued to visitors transiting Mongolia by train once within 3 months from the date of its issuance.
• Double transit visa is issued to visitors transiting Mongolia by train twice within 3 months from the date of its issuance.
• Multiple entry and exit visa for 6 months or one year is issued to visitors, who have approval from the Immigration, Naturalisation and Foreign Citizens Office of Mongolia.

What do I need to do now?
You can move forward using the checklist below.

Please note: Your valid passport must have six months to run from the proposed date of return.

• Please make sure there is a minimum of two blank pages in your passport.
• Please send us your passport 30 days prior to travel.
• Obtain a Mongolian Visa Application form. This can be downloaded here: Mongolian visa application form or please request one from us.
• Your original passport with at least one blank visa-designated page (your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after intended departure date from Mongolia)
• Visa application form, completed and signed.
• A recent standard passport sized photograph.This is to be fixed to the visa application form. Life photos, copied photos and digital photos printed on ordinary paper are not acceptable.
• The correct payment (if the costs are not incorporated in your travel invoice).
