Qingdao

Sanya China Travel are pleased to now offer Qingdao, on China's eastern coast, as an additional destination within our tailor-made tour program. Qingdao is a unique tourist resort, located on the Yellow Sea coast at the tip of Shandong Peninsula. It is easily accessible from both Beijing and Shanghai and is the host city for the sailing events of the 29th Olympic Games in 2008.

We firmly believe that this fascinating city would be an exceptional addition to any tailor-made tour within the Peoples Republic of China. Why not take the opportunity to decide for yourself.

The Mt. Laoshan National Scenic Resort is Qingdao's feature attraction, with over a dozen scenic spots and with extended land and sea views. Its main peak Jufeng Peak is considered China's No.1 mountain on the coast and is a famous Taoist mountain. Other points of interest within the resort are Bashui River, Longtan Waterfall and Taiqin Palace, which is one of the most important holy places within Taoism.

Zhan Qiao Pier is one of Qingdao's main landmarks. It was built in 1891 and is approximately 1400 feet in length, with the eight-sided Huilin Pavilion at its crown a popular tourist spot.

Little Qingdao Isle just south of Zhan Qiao Pier is one of the areas most popular tourist spots. Its main attraction is the German lighthouse, built in around 1900. The park which surrounds it is particularly beautiful in the springtime.

Huiquan Beach is one of six bathing beaches within Qingdao. These beaches are considered some of the best in China.

The Navy Museum in Qingdao is China's largest naval museum. Visitors have the opportunity to see many exhibits charting China's naval history, including submarines and destroyers which once served in the Chinese Navy.

Zhongshan Park is Qingdao's largest park and combines lovely cherry tree lined paths with a variety of man made structures, such as a Buddhist Temple, a tea house and a chair-lift ride to the top of Taiping Hill. In the evenings during the summer lantern festivals are held, which are certainly worth seeing.

Zhongshan Road is the perfect starting point when touring Qingdao. It is the cultural centre of the city, with beautiful examples of architecture, which show the cities German and Japanese historical influences.

Ocean World will be opening in July 2006, as part of the Qingdao Ocean Park. The park is located in the Shilaoren National Holiday Resort and with huge investment planned is China's largest ocean park. Of the eight planned tourist zones within the park, Ocean World will become the third zone in operation along with the Dolphin Garden and Ocean Entertainment.
