The next train journey takes you to Takayama nestled quietly at the foot of the peaks of the northern Alps. Explore the quiet traditional mountain villages and Matsumoto’s fantastic castle. Mt Fuji is the emblem of Japan, you will take its amazing views for a dramatic end to your journey.

Day 1

Fly to Osaka

Day 2

Land in Osaka and transfer to Kyoto.

Day 3

Full day tour of Kyoto visiting Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion), Ryoanji Temple, Nijo Castle and the Kiyomizu Temple.

Day 4

Full day tour to Nara visiting a Byodoin Temple Tea Ceremony, Deer Park, Nara Todaiji Temple and its Great Image of Buddha.

Day 5

Transfer to Kyoto station to board the super fast Bullet train NOZOMI bound for Hiroshima. Visit Peace Memorial Park and the A-bomb Museum. Proceed to Miyajima Island for overnight.

Day 6

A walking tour of Miyajima Island visiting Itsukushima Shrine and Momijidani Park Ropeway Ride. Return to Hiroshima for overnight.

Day 7

Board the train for Takayama via Nagoya, taking in some of the sights of the countryside. Arrive in Takayama for overnight.

Day 8

Visit the open air market then proceed to Shirakawago visiting Gashojukuri House and walking around Shirakawago Village.

Day 9

Take a walking tour of Takayama and visit Jinya Old House and Yatai Haikan. Leave Takayama by private car and proceed to Matsumoto.

Day 10

Visit Matsumoto castle then proceed to Mt Fuji in Hakone National Park area. Drive up to the 5th station of elevation on Mt Fuji and drive along Lake Yamanakako. Tour of Hakone visiting Owakudani Valley, Ropeway Ride and Lake Ashi Cruise. Proceed to Tokyo for overnight.

Day 11

A Tokyo city tour visiting Asakusa Anon Temple, experience calligraphy, Tokyo Tower and the Ginza shopping area.

Day 12

Day at leisure before return flight.
