The hotel is surrounded by many natural and cultural wonders, like Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (you'll spot this just north of the hotel from your room window!)
The snow-topped, mist-enshrouded mountain is said to resemble a jade dragon lying in the clouds, and legend has it, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain used to be one of two twin brothers, who saved his brother in a fight after wearing out 13 swords. Each peak of the mountain is now said to symbolise one of the swords.
For a taste of the historical culture of the area, visit Lijiang Mural, ten kilometers (six miles) northwest of Lijiang Old Town. Within several ancient villages - Baisha, Dayan, Shuhe, Yangxi and Xuesong to name a few - the precious Lijiang Mural is kept, preserved, and displayed in 15 magnificent temples.
