The Red Capital Residence Hotel in Beijing is featured in the Tatler Guide as one of the top 101 hotels in the world..
The 200 year old Red Capital Club was a courtyard home to one of the privileged leaders in historic China. After 1949, the Chinese courtyard became a realm of just the privileged few. These old courtyard residences were exclusive to Beijing’s powerful elite. It preserves the elegance and exclusivity of traditional courtyard living, which is why it stood out to us - we discovered this by accident in 2007 and we have not had a negative comment from any clients we have since sent there.

Rooms

The Red Capital Residence consists of just five luxuriously decorated rooms, each appointed with original period antiques and a different historic theme. There are three double rooms: the Chairman Suite (which brings one back to a time when Mao made key decisions from his bedroom), two Concubines, Private Courtyards (for anyone who has ever dreamed of being or having a concubine!), and two Author's Suites (one inspired by Edgar Snow and the other by Han Suyin). All rooms have modern private bath facilities, internet connection, electronic safes, and CNN.
The two Author's Suites which face the main garden are rooms dedicated to the adventurous spirit of authors such as Edgar Snow and Han Suyin whose love for China sought to capture the Spirit of Yanan in the poetry of words.
Facilities

Beneath the premises, a Cultural Revolution era bomb shelter, now serves as wine bar and walk in humidor. Both are well stocked with a wide range of vintages and Habanos, featuring wines and Fine Cigars...
The boutique hotel's walls and doors gleam in red lacquer, and the courtyard oozes the rockeries of a traditional Chinese garden.
This property inspired Jun and Kevin (the owners of Sanya China Travel to create their own B & B styled guesthouse; The Little Chinese House (www.littlechinesehouse.com), now offered with compliments to you if you choose to travel with us.
Furnishings are said to come from the office of Madame Mao. We can arrange for you to take a ride in her curtain-hung limousine complete with fluttering red flags.
