The Buddha Zen Hotel is not only a territory for Buddha worshippers but its a totally unique and authentic place to stay for a few nights.
It is a far cry from the standard 4 star tourist hotels now found in the City. If you stay here you will be immersed in Sichuan's tibetan influenced culture. The decor of the Buddha Zen Hotel is very traditional. You don't have to eat here but the restaurant is famous for its vegetarian food, there is even a large spa for you to enjoy. Step outside and you will find yourself in Chengdu's old district, Wenshufang folk street (rather like Beijing's Hutongs) which is protected from development.

Facilities
The Buddha Zen Hotel has a unique way of serving you as a guest. There are many typical Sichaunese restaurants nearby, however The Vegetarian Restaurant in this Hotel serves special Chinese dishes made only by its own buddhist cooks. The cooking methods follow the Buddhist classic recipies and adopt the theory of the Qi-supplement in traditional Chinese medicine.
Moreover, the marvelous cooks have developed nutritious vegetarian dishes as a kind of food therapy, taking advantage of the freshness of vegetables and other vegetarian food, as well as categorizing the Five Elements of different vegetarian foods. All these dishes are very natural, low in fat and without cholesterol.
If you want to have a try, please reserve in advance via your Sanya Travel guide or the Hotel staff. We thinkit's definitely worth it.
For another taste of Chinese culture, visit the Buddha Zen Hotel’s tea house. For a perfect understanding of the spirit of tea you have to keep a pure mind and follow the tradition rules of tea art. It will add to your holiday experience if you can spare the time to relax in the Tea House.
The spa hall is still perfect for relaxation, but is unusual in the fact that it is equipped with an automatic extendable canopy which is able to absorb natural light. This was designed by the hotel owners as a sort of harmonization with the Universe, or so they say. It can place you into ’Zi Zai’ which, according to Buddhism, makes you completely relaxed! That all sounds great but what we can tell you regardless of religion is, three out of six of your UK China team have stayed here and we all agree its a great place to unwind.

TJust outside the Buddha Zen Hotel is Wenshufang folk street.
A minutes walk will take you to the famous thousand year old Wenshuyuan Buddhist Temple. Here you can listen to the Buddhist sermons and experience the smell of incense - a nice experience and a bonus to your holiday.
Chengdu, where the hotel is situated, is one of the choice locations for tourists in China. During the Five Dynasties era (907-960 A. D.), it was for a time the capital of China, and hibiscus was planted all along the city wall. Because of this, it then became known as the City of Furong or Hibiscus. Today, flowers and trees grace the wide streets and its many parks. Agriculture and light industry are the mainstays of the region. Brocade is still manufactured along with other textiles and handicrafts. If you stay in Chengdu, you may be able to see an operatic production. The Sichuan Opera has been in existence for many years and is slowly winning nationwide fame.
Places of interest in the city include Du Fu Caotang, a small thatched hut in which the great poet, Du Fu, of the Tang Dynasty, wrote many of his 340-odd poems. But more exciting sights can be seen on excursions to Mt. Emei, the Great Buddha Statue at Leshan, the Thousand Buddha Cliffs at Guangyuan and the Guanxian Dam.
