A comprehensive tour of some of China’s main sights plus a cruise on the Yangtze River.
In Beijing we take in the sights of The Great Wall, Tian'anmen Square and the Summer Palace to name just a few.
We then travel to Xi’an, China’s ancient capital city where you will see the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, often referred to as the Eighth Wonder of the World.
The Yangtze River is the third longest river in the world flowing from the mountains of Tibet to the China Sea near Shanghai. Your cruise takes in the most picturesque section of the river between Chongqing and Yichang. You will enjoy four nights on board a luxury cruise ship with full board. You will pass through the magnificent Three Gorges, one of the great scenic attractions of China. Onwards to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province to visit the Giant Panda Research Base and see one of the world’s favourite animals at close quarters. Finally to Shanghai, a unique blend of traditional and modern architecture and lifestyles.

Day 1
Beijing – Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to the Xinqiao Novotel Hotel. In the evening you are invited to be our guest at a special welcome dinner with your guide.
Day 2
Beijing - Morning tour of the Lama Temple. In the afternoon we will take you on a Hutong tour around the traditional streets (these areas of Beijing are protected from development). In the evening enjoy a Peking Duck dinner at the world famous Quanjude Restaurant. Do not despair if you are vegetarian or simply prefer Beijing’s famous vegetarian cuisine we will ensure you enjoy an equally scrumptious dinner.
Day 3
Beijing – We start today a little earlier as we travel to visit the less busy Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. In the afternoon you will be shown the Chang Tombs and the famous Sacred Way. Enjoy the evening at your own leisure.
Day 4
Beijing – Today enjoy a full day’s tour to Tian’anmen Square, the Forbidden City & the Temple of Heaven. You have the evening to spend at your own leisure. If you wish your guide to steer you in the direction of a good traditional restaurant please do not hesitate to ask.
Day 5
Beijing to Xi’an – In the morning we will take you to visit the Summer Palace. In the afternoon you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Xi’an. Upon arrival you will be met by your guide and transferred to The Garden Hotel where you will stay for 2 nights.
Day 6
Xi’an – Today enjoy a full day’s tour to the Terracotta Warriors, the huge City Wall and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Enjoy the evening at your own leisure
Day 7
Xi’an to Yichang – This morning we visit the Hanyangling Mausoleum. In the afternoon we will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Yichang. Here you will board the 4 star cruise ship for four nights (standard private cabin with window). The departure time is 9.00pm from Maoping a typical suburb of Yichang. Yichang is the economic and cultural centre of Western Hubei.
Day 8
Yangtze River – In the morning we will visit the Three Gorges Dam site at Sandouping the largest project of its kind in the world. Today you will sail though the Xiling Gorge, the longest (41 miles) and the deepest of the three Gorges.
Day 9
Yangtze River – Today includes an excursion to the Daning River “Small Gorges“, this gorge is narrower than the more famous Three Gorges. You will also pass through Wu Gorge/Qutang Gorge, which is known for its quiet beauty, forest covered mountains and cliffs so sheer that the sun barely penetrates the precipices.
You will then sail though Qutang Gorge – the most dramatic and the shortest of the sections (5 miles).
Day 10
Yangtze River – Today a shore excursion to Fengdu is included this is known as the Ghost city. Explore its beautiful gardens, temples and statues of ghosts and devils.
Day 11
Chongqing to Chengdu – You will arrive at Chongqing at 9am. Here one of our local guides will meet you. You will then be transferred to the train station for your journey to Sichuan’s capital city Chengdu via the new express train. This journey will take 3 hours. Relax and enjoy the countryside of arguably China’s most beautiful province. Upon arrival in Chengdu we will take you to visit the famous Dufu Cottage. You will be transferred to the Tibet Hotel for two nights. In the evening we will take you for a traditional Sichuan Hot Pot dinner.
Day 12
Chengdu – Today you will be taken to the Panda Research Base where you will have a hands on experience with China’s most iconic animal. Then we will take you for a visit to the Giant Buddha at Leshan.
Day 13
Chengdu to Shanghai – In the morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival you will be met by your guide and transferred to the famous Astor Hotel.
Day 14
Shanghai – Today you will counter balance the hustle and bustle of China’s second city by taking in the beautiful Yuyuan Gardens, The Jade Buddha Temple and The Shanghai Museum
Day 15
Shanghai to Suzhou to Shanghai – Today we will take you for a full day’s tour to the water town of Suzhou, just south of Shanghai considered to be ’The Venice of the East’. We will visit the famous Master of the Nets Garden and the Panmen Gate before you return to your hotel to spend the evening at your leisure
Day 16
Shanghai – We will transfer you to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
