Travelling in the countryside of Mongolia is often tough; a trip into the more remote areas requires stays in tourist ger camps.
A ger is a Mongolian traditional dwelling which may be made of felt layers over a wooden frame work. A ger camp is an alternative accommodation to a hotel.
These are found in the more remote areas. Instead of you staying in a conventional hotel room, you stay in a ger.
The ger camps have fully equipped restaurants, and have western style showers and WCs mostly in an amenities block in the centre of the camp.
